Matthew Bergman is the founder and managing partner of the firm.
He grew up in Seattle and attended college and law school in Oregon.
After graduating magna cum laude from Lewis & Clark law school
in 1989, Bergman served two years as a law clerk to a federal judge
on the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
He is a member of the Washington
State Trial Bar and was selected in 2005 as a Washington Super Lawyer
by Washington Law and Politics magazine, one of the leading
chroniclers of the Washington legal scene. He recently served as
one of seven lawyers across the nation who negotiated a landmark
$4 billion national settlement with the Halliburton Corporation
for their asbestos liabilities. $30 million of this settlement went
to Bergman & Frock clients, primarily in the Northwest.
In addition to his legal experience,
Bergman has worked as a political organizer for the AFL-CIO on voter
registration and education campaigns. As a lawyer fighting for the
rights of individuals, Bergman continues to work closely with local
and international unions throughout the Northwest.
He is licensed to practice in
Washington and Oregon and is admitted to the Federal District courts
for the Western and Eastern District of Washington and Court of
Appeals for the Ninth and Tenth circuits. Matthew

David Frockt is a 1998 graduate of the UCLA School of Law and a
1991 honors graduate from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior
to attending UCLA, he attended the University of Kentucky College
of Law where he was selected to the Law Review after his first year
of law school.
Before joining Bergman &
Frockt, he was a litigation associate at Graham & James/Riddell
Williams, a large Seattle law firm. In 2003 Mr. Frockt was selected
as a Rising Star of Washington Law by Washington Law and Politics
magazine.
He is a member of the Washington
State Trial Lawyers Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association
and the American Bar Association. He is active in his community
and has participated in environmental and civil rights organizations
in Washington.
Conard Metcalf joined the firm in 2004 and serves as its lead trial
counsel. He brings a vast range of experience in complex toxic tort
litigation and has been practicing law for 32 years.
Mr. Metcalf is one of the foremost
trial attorneys in the country, having tried dozens of asbestos
cancer cases since the late 1970s. Mr. Metcalf is a frequently sought-after
speaker about asbestos-related diseases at medical conferences and
legal seminars around the country, and is widely respected in both
the plaintiff's and defense bar for his knowledge of asbestos-related
medicine and literature. He has published articles about occupational
diseases in several legal journals.
Mr. Metcalf received his law degree
from the University of Colorado in 1972, where he was a member of
the Law Review. In 1973, he received a Master of Law degree from
Columbia University in New York City.
Mr. Metcalf belongs to a number of
organizations, including the International Society of Barristers,
which invites lawyers with demonstrated expertise as trial lawyers
to be members. Mr. Metcalf is proud to be a founding member of Trial
Lawyers for Public Justice, a national organization of trial lawyers
representing people whose causes involve important issues of justice
and fairness.
LeAnn McDonald joined Bergman & Frockt in 2004.
Prior to joining Bergman & Frockt,
LeAnn served as an assistant attorney general in the Labor &
Industries and Antitrust divisions of the Washington State Office
of the Attorney General. In 1991, LeAnn opened her own firm on Seattle’s
Capitol Hill. Her practice focused on employee rights, general civil
litigation and civil rights.
She is a 1986 honors graduate of Seattle
University School of Law. LeAnn has been working on behalf of asbestos
victims and their families since 2003, in Portland and Seattle.
